Intro to philosophy | Plato, Aristotle, Stoics, Epicureans | December

In addition to Language & Philosophy,

Philippe and I will be giving a 3-weeks intro course where we will be discussing Plato, Aristotle, Stoicism & Epicureanism.

Week 1. Plato: Nature of Reality

• Metaphysics

• Knowledge and perception

Week 2. Aristotle: Natural Philosophy

• Teleological explanations and final causes

• Aristotle’s universe

Week 3. Hellenistic Philosophy: Ethics

• Stoicism, virtue in accordance with nature & eudaimonia

• Epicureanism, hedonism & ataraxia

We will start on Tuesday, Dec. 7, and end on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
